Shockey Scofield Solutions (S-3 Group) announced today that Martin Delgado, current staff director of the House Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee, is joining the firm as a principal. Delgado has spent more than twenty-five years in government service, including six years in his current position where he oversaw the $145 billion spending bill that encompasses the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). During his time on the Committee, Delgado spent much of his time overseeing the vast responsibilities and funding for USDA’s and FDA’s food safety programs as well as FDA’s pharmaceutical, medical device, biologics, and tobacco programs.
Delgado also spent several years as the primary minority staffer for the House Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee and did a stint on the Senate Appropriations Interior Subcommittee. He began his career in 1989 as a budget analyst with the USDA.
Firm founder Jeff Shockey remarked, “We couldn't be happier for Delgado to join our team. His knowledge of FDA, food and agriculture policy is unparalleled in town. There is a lot of opportunity in the FDA and food arenas and Delgado's expertise and experience will enable us to maximize those opportunities."
Delgado is a native of New Mexico and graduate of New Mexico Highlands University.
